News from the Field – February 2021
Let me share a little bit of what the sacrificial gifts of people just like you are making possible. For the love of God, in the name of Jesus!
The Isaiah 25:4 Project
Our Agents of Hope continue to work at Dona Teresa’s house. Dona Teresa has been dreaming about her new home for the past 36 years. What a blessing that our team is able to help her. Thanks to faithful donors like you, our team will also begin a project at our base in Aquidauana, Brazil, building a home for an Open Arms family that lost their humble dwelling in a severe windstorm. These construction projects have served as wonderful opportunities to teach our youth how to serve in practical ways in Jesus’ name.
For you have been a stronghold to the poor,
a stronghold to the needy in his distress,
a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat;
for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall, (Is 25:4)
Recently, a group of youth volunteers of Open Arms, without the direction or help of our missionaries, took it upon themselves in one community to begin ministering to the children and adolescents on Monday’s and Wednesday’s where they provide an afternoon of recreation, a good snack, and bible study.
This is Zé Henrique. He grew up in Open Arms mission programs and is now a youth volunteer. After many years of giving us a hard time, a major discipline problem, but all the while hearing the gospel preached in word and in deed by our team, Zé came to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Immediately he began preaching to everyone who would sit long enough to listen. He recently led a homeless man to the Lord (pictured above), and has organized a small group of his peers to preach in the streets of their city. What a blessing to see disciples begin to imitate the example they have been shown, and follow Christ by loving and serving others completely of their own accord.
Individuals and churches in partnership with Open Arms allow us to continue the work of bringing gospel hope to children and youth, and participate in the miracle of changed lives. If you would like to join them, click HERE.
