A Moment for the Children
Thank you for taking a moment from your day for our children.
Prayer Request – One of our new volunteers in the US shared the following story with me this week, her first time serving in our homework club. “The child I was working with shared with me that he was living with his father, but that his mother and siblings stayed behind in their country. He told me how much he missed his mom, but that his father said they didn’t have enough money for him to visit her.” Please pray for the comfort of this young person and countless others like him as they struggle to cope with the results of decisions that were outside of their control. Pray for our volunteers, that they would have words of encouragement and hope in Jesus’ name. Needless to say our new volunteer is hooked on homework club now. You can join her to! www.openarmsworldwide.org/volunteer/
Financial Update: We are getting closer! In the last two months we have gone from being $40,000 short of our annual budget need to $24,300. If you or someone close to you is considering end of year giving options please consider Open Arms. Your gifts are helping us reach more children every day with the good news of hope and a future in Jesus. www.openarmsworldwide.org/donate
Training Conference in Aquidauana: “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:38. Open Arms’ Agent of Hope, Sarita Romeiro, asked for one thing during our visit with her in August. It wasn’t for more funds or materials, but for help in training more workers to minister to the many, many children the Lord is bringing to Open Arms programs throughout her region. So in answer to her request I will be traveling to Aquidauana and meeting up with 3 other Open Arms missionaries to assist Sarita in conducting a three-day conference to train children’s workers for new and existing Open Arms programs. Please pray for our travel and for a fruitful conference. If you would like to give specifically towards this conference you can do so at www.openarmsworldwide.org/donate and include “conference” in the comments field.
The Hat, Glove, & Scarf Drive is still ongoing! We are collecting winter gloves, hats, and scarves for children in need that attend our partner school Sully Elementary. Click here for more details – Hat & Glove Drive (If you cannot drop off at our partner church, Sterling Park Baptist, you can make arrangements with me for pick up).
Lastmanstandingchurch.com – In a world that seems to be increasingly turning its back on love, truth, goodness, kindness, godliness, peace and self-control, a world where institutions we once thought to be protectors of these values are in direct and often active opposition to them, we can take heart because there is still one Man standing. This man is the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and he commands his body, the Church to stand with him. This blog was designed to highlight God’s call to His church to assume its responsibility as the body of Christ, the “last man standing.” Log on, click to follow, and you will receive notifications when new content (sermons, devotionals, articles) is loaded to the site.
That’s all friends. Thanking for taking a “moment for the children.” Please continue to pray for the children, their families, the volunteers, and the missionaries of Open Arms Worldwide.
