News from the Field – June 2024
In April a team of missionaries from our main base in Brazil traveled across the Andes mountains to the city of Puerto Montt in Chile. Their mission? To conduct a field survey for the possible planting of a permanent Open Arms mission in this nation of 22 million. They went at the request of Roberto & Julia, a couple that is responding to God’s call on their lives to bring the hope of Jesus to children living in some very dark circumstances. Chile has one of the highest rates of child sexual and physical abuse in South America. Our team met with church leaders, conducted interviews, toured neighborhoods, and asked a ton of questions.
Upon their return they prepared a detailed field report and recommendations for our leadership to review. These are the first steps in a process that includes training, mobilization, translation, and of course a lot of prayer.
Our staff of missionaries are able to respond to the needs and opportunities that God puts before us because we have an amazing family of supporters, “hope bringers,” from all over the world who believe that Jesus can change everything, and are willing to invest in that belief.
This is Open Arms Worldwide, carrying the love of God and the name of Jesus to children wherever the Lord leads.
Sincerely,
